ROME – Valery Gergiev, the world-renowned orchestra conductor with hyperlinks to the Kremlin, prepares to carry out at a state-backed music pageant in southern Italy on 27 July regardless of mounting concern over his efficiency.
Gergiev, the Kremlin’s cultural envoy and longtime ally of Vladimir Putin, is ready to carry out on the “Un’property da Re” pageant on the Royal Palace of Caserta later this month.
“Artwork should stay free,” stated Italian Tradition Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano, whereas warning the live performance dangers “sending the unsuitable message” amid present geopolitical tensions.
Julija Navalnaya, widow of Russian opposition chief Alexei Navalny, known as Gergiev “a promoter of Putin’s prison insurance policies” and urged Italians to face agency in opposition to Russian propaganda.
Regional Governor Vincenzo De Luca, who helps the occasion, dismissed requires cancellation, arguing that silencing voices “doesn’t assist peace – it solely fuels hatred.”
For now, the live performance stays on the programme.
