The particular cell of the Ernakulam Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) has booked two former officers of Velloor Service Co-operative Financial institution on cost of amassing wealth disproportionate to their recognized sources of earnings throughout their service interval.
The accused are S.G. Dhananjayan, former secretary of the financial institution, and Liji Thankappan, a former junior clerk, each residents of Vaikom. The case was registered on a petition by the financial institution president.
Mr. Dhananjayan had allegedly acquired belongings value ₹68.03 lakh and incurred bills of ₹1.22 crore, of which ₹89.21 lakh far exceeded his professional earnings. Equally, Ms. Thankappan was discovered to have collected belongings value ₹44.09 lakh and incurred bills of ₹12.90 lakh, of which ₹14.37 lakh was deemed extreme compared to her earnings.
The VACB discovered credence to the allegations within the preliminary inquiry following which raids have been carried out on the homes of the accused on the orders of VACB Superintendent of Police A.J. Sojan.
The raids have been carried out by Inspectors J.P. Arun Kumar and H.L. Honey. Numerous paperwork, belongings, and money allegedly linked to the disproportionate wealth have been reportedly seized.
