Berlin/Warsaw (dpa) – Given repeated infringements of NATO airspace by Russian plane and drones, German Overseas Minister Johann Wadephul and Defence Minister Boris Pistorius are travelling to Warsaw this Monday to attend a safety congress.
Wadephul initially intends to deliberate within the Polish capital together with his counterparts Jean-Noël Barrot (France) and Radoslaw Sikorski (Poland) within the so-called Weimar Triangle format. The intention is then for Ukrainian Overseas Minister Andrij Sybiha to hitch the deliberations.
Wadephul harassed shut partnership with the neighbouring nation. Current weeks have emphatically demonstrated how the safety of each international locations is intertwined: “We see Poland as far more than a mere neighbour – Poland is an in depth associate and pal with whom we stand shoulder to shoulder in defending Europe’s freedom”, mentioned Wadephul.
The deliberations will even contain mutual help for Ukraine. Wadephul subsequently plans to provide a speech on European safety and deterrence capabilities at a safety discussion board.
