Eight girls on their approach to a temple had been killed and 29 individuals injured after a pick-up van they had been travelling in fell off the street on a hilly terrain in Pune district on Monday, police stated.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the lack of lives and introduced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s Nationwide Aid Fund to the following of kin of every deceased.
The automobile carrying round 40 passengers, most of them girls and kids, veered off the street and plunged 25 to 30 ft down round 1 PM after the driving force misplaced management of the wheel, a police officer stated, citing the preliminary data.
The victims, who hailed from Papalwadi village, had been headed to Shree Kshetra Mahadev Kundeshwar Temple in Khed tehsil to mark the auspicious Monday of the Shravan month.
Locals rushed to the spot and alerted the police.
“Eight girls have died and 29 others sustained accidents,” the officer stated, including that 10 ambulances rushed the injured individuals to close by hospitals.
PM Modi acknowledged that he was saddened by the lack of lives resulting from an accident in Pune.
“Condolences to those that have misplaced their family members within the mishap. Might the injured recuperate quickly. An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF can be given to the following of kin of every deceased. The injured can be given Rs. 50,000,” the PMO acknowledged.
