The Forest Division of Karnataka cleared encroachments on 96 acres of forest at Savanthanahalli, close to Hassan, on August 1.
The land, positioned in survey quantity 99 of Savanthanahalli in Shantigrama hobli, was being cultivated by 68 individuals. A group of officers, led by Deputy Conservator of Forests Sourabh Kumar, cleared the encroachment.
The Forest Division said that officers had arrange a plantation within the land in 1984. Nonetheless, through the years, it had been encroached upon.
Following a petition earlier than the Karnataka Lokayukta, the Lokayukta, in an order in 2017, directed the division to get better the land by clearing the encroachments.
As many as 140 officers of the Forest Division, 160 policemen, and officers of the Income Division have been concerned within the operation.
After the encroachment was cleared, the division planted saplings within the recovered land.
