Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Energy Restricted (NUPPL), a three way partnership between NLC India Restricted and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Restricted, has efficiently carried out Turbine Generator (TG) rolling and synchronisation of Unit-2 (660 mW) of NUPPL’s 1980 mW supercritical thermal energy plant in Ghatampur Tehsil, Uttar Pradesh.

The synchronization of the thermal energy plant with the 765 kV grid, was carried out in a single, seamless try on Sunday, and effectively forward of the scheduled lead time after the profitable completion of the Steam Blowing milestone.

The synchronization of Unit-2 marked an important step ahead in NUPPL’s journey in the direction of Industrial Operation Declaration (COD). This achievement reinforces NUPPL’s steadfast dedication to delivering 31.68 million items of dependable and sustainable energy to the nation, a press word from NLC India Ltd. (NLCIL) mentioned.

Commenting on the achievement, Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director of NLCIL, mentioned the accomplishment is the results of unwavering focus and devoted efforts of NUPPL, NLCIL, and UPRVUNL, supported by the Ministry of Coal, Authorities of India.

With Unit 1 operational since December 2024, the synchronization of Unit-2 represents one other main step in the direction of the mission’s full realisation. Unit-3 is anticipated to be commissioned in 2025-26 fiscal, bringing the overall capability of Ghatampur Thermal Energy mission to 1,980 mW.

Positioned in Ghatampur Tehsil, Kanpur Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, the plant contains three supercritical thermal items of 660 mW every. The mission is designed to produce 75.12% (1,487.28 MW) of its energy to Uttar Pradesh, whereas the remaining 24.88% (492.77 mW) is allotted to Assam.

Along with the ability plant, NUPPL can be making strides within the growth of the linked coal mine in Pachwara South Coal Block in Dumka district of Jharkhand, which is able to present a sustainable supply of gas for the end-use energy plant.

The Ghatampur mission options state-of-the-art supercritical boiler and turbine-generator applied sciences, designed to satisfy the newest environmental requirements. The plant incorporates Flue Gasoline Desulphurisation (FGD) and Selective Catalytic Discount (SCR) techniques, guaranteeing Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) and minimizing ecological impression.

With the synchronisation of Unit-2, NUPPL is now on the verge of finishing the ultimate commissioning actions, paving the best way for its formal entry into business operations, NLCIL mentioned.
