A Brisbane bus driver suffered facial accidents and potential everlasting harm to his ear in a “brutal” assault that was captured on digital camera, the drivers’ union says.
A 21-year-old man from Sunnybank has been charged over allegations of an assault that occurred on a bus in South Brisbane on Friday evening in entrance of shocked passengers.
Footage that was first revealed on neighborhood Fb web page Brisbane Incident Alerts reveals a bus driver making an attempt to take away a person from the bus about 6pm.
Police will allege the passenger responded by repeatedly punching the 46-year-old driver, stopping briefly to go away the bus earlier than returning and punching him within the head.
Rail Tram and Bus Union state secretary Tom Brown described the alleged assault as “brutal” and mentioned the driving force had suffered facial accidents and potential everlasting harm to his ear.
“He’s fairly traumatised by the incident and that’s one thing which may take some time to heal up,” Brown instructed ABC Radio on Monday morning.
“This was a brutal and sustained assault … a few of these punches would have floored [professional boxer] Jeff Horn.
“[He’s] a identified trouble-maker on the bus, so he’s not only a hazard to the driving force, he’s a hazard to different passengers.
“Our driver recognized him and tried to escort him off the bus, after which clearly it blew up.”
