Deceptive conduct and $35m penalty proposal
In June, Bupa admitted to “deceptive and misleading conduct” and “unconscionable behaviour” between 2018 and 2023 that triggered over 7,500 prospects to cancel or delay procedures they have been, at the very least partly, lined for. The insurer later agreed to pay a $35 million penalty, which the Federal Courtroom has but to substantiate.
