Alaska Airways grounds U.S. flights after one other IT outage

Alaska Airways mentioned it’s recovering from an IT outage and “actively restoring operations” as of seven p.m. Thursday after grounding flights throughout the U.S. for about three hours.

The SeaTac, Wash.-based airline didn’t present additional particulars or disclose the reason for the IT outage. GeekWire has contacted Alaska Airways for extra info. Flights are resuming however passengers at some airports are going through lengthy delays as they await inbound planes.

In the course of the outage, passengers on Reddit reported that some planes had been sitting on the tarmac or de-boarding. Clients additionally reported points with the corporate’s app and web site.

It was Alaska’s second outage in three months. The Seattle-based airline grounded flights after an outage in July that lasted about three hours.
