A day after the BJP pulled a shock by successful one of many 4 Rajya Sabha seats from Jammu and Kashmir, Nationwide Convention (NC) leaders stated on Saturday (October 25, 2025) that they’d been “betrayed by our personal individuals”.
“We may have received all 4 seats. Those that promised us betrayed us. Such issues occur in elections,” NC president Farooq Abdullah stated.
BJP candidate Sat Sharma bagged 32 votes towards the NC candidate Imran Nabi Dar’s 22 votes, although the BJP solely has 28 members within the J&Ok Meeting. Most Impartial MLAs and regional events had claimed to be supporting the NC.

‘Refused BJP request’
The senior Abdullah claimed that the BJP had approached the NC forward of the polling. “They got here to us and requested us to offer away a seat with out a contest. We refused and got here to the sphere and fought,” Dr. Abdullah stated.
The NC received the remaining three Rajya Sabha seats from J&Ok and Dr. Abdullah thanked the Peoples Democratic Social gathering president Mehbooba Mufti, the Congress, and Independents for “standing with” them.
‘Betrayed’
NC vice chairman and J&Ok Chief Minister Omar Abdullah stated the NC had been betrayed by these individuals “who attended our conferences and ate with us”.
“I’m glad that not a single NC vote went astray. All of the NC voters confirmed their vote to the chief agent. It will have been higher if they’d brazenly stated they wished to help the BJP, like our MLA from Handwara did,” Mr. Abdullah stated.
Nonetheless, Handwara MLA Sajad Gani Lone, who heads the J&Ok Peoples Convention, claimed that the NC had in reality supported the BJP. “NC legislators assisted the BJP in securing one of many 4 seats. The additional votes that went to the BJP got here from the NC. Seven of their members supported the BJP. This was not cross-voting from others; they did it themselves,” Mr. Lone stated. He had abstained from voting.
Ms. Mufti, the PDP chief, congratulated the NC’s Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan Sahab, Sajjad Kichloo, and Shami Oberoi on being elected to the Rajya Sabha. “I hope they are going to use this platform to strongly symbolize and communicate up for the individuals of Jammu and Kashmir,” she stated in a put up on X.
